Disrupt polls, youths told

Dharan, January 13 :

Former general secretary of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) Gagan Thapa has called on the youths to boycott the municipal polls to root out autocracy.

Thapa was speaking at a programme held here today by the Mahendra Multiple Campus chapter of the NSU.

Urging to disrupt the polls at any cost, Thapa said successful conduct of polls will trigger violence in the nation. “Seven Nepalis are being killed daily during the direct rule of the King. Taking part in the polls means taking the daily toll to 14,” Thapa said.

“The monarchy has always hindered the development of the nation.”“The youths will never strike an agreement with the King,” he said, adding: Even if the parties strike such a pact, we will rejectt it.” He accused the King and the government of spending millions of rupees in the name of war.
