GULARIYA, BARDIYA: A case of attempted rape has been filed against the District Education Officer (DEO) of Bardiya district.

A 15-year-old girl has accused DEO Gyanmani Nepal of sexual misconduct under the pretext of giving her educational lessons. The girl, who had come to stay with her aunt, is said to have been the victim of sexual misconduct which occurred last Thursday.

Her aunt has been working as a cook at the officer's quarter. The girl alleged that the officer took her to a guest room under the pretext of giving her lessons at a time when her aunt was away and mistreated her.

Nepal is currently on the loose and search is being carried out to find him, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Janak Bhattarai.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway.
