Solukhumbu, July 24:

Patients in the Phaplu hospital in Solu are facing dilemma as no doctor has turned up in the hospital. Although there are posts for three doctors and 10 health professionals in the hospital, there has been no doctor in the hospital for the past few weeks. It is known from the local staff in the hospital that Dr Nigmar Gyaljen Sherpa has been away for two weeks while Dr Buddha Bahadur Karki and Dr Subarna Karki have not attended the hospital for over a month. The 15-bed hospital is the only hospital in the district which was constructed 30 years ago with the support of the first Everest climber, Sir Edmund Hillary. Sixty to 100 patients visit the hospital everyday. Most of visitors are patients of high blood pressure, pneumonia and accident. Local Development Officer, Ramdhin Yadav and coordinator of the Civil Society, Solu, Kul Narayan Shrestha stressed that doctors should be present in hospital in view of the inconvenience caused to the people.
