Doha visit was a success, says King

King Gyanendra today said his participation in the G-77 summit in Doha provided opportunity to reiterate Nepal’s views and comments in the international fora while emphasising the need to overcome the problems and challenges facing the developing world.
In a message to the nation upon his arrival here after his participation in the summit and friendly visit to the UAE, the King said his visit to Doha was a success.
“We are confident that countries like Nepal will benefit from the discussions on problems facing the least developed and land-locked nations as well as the implementation of the commitments enshrined in the Doha Declaration,” he said.
He said the interactions with the head of states and governments have contributed to consolidating the existing friendly ties between Nepal and those countries. The King expressed confidence that the exchange of views with the Emir of Qatar have added a new dimension to the bilateral ties. “Our visit to the UAE has consolidated the cordial relations between us.”
Upon their return, the King and the Queen were received at the airport by the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess, HNS reported.
Foreign Affairs minister, Ramesh Nath Pandey, said the visit has enhanced the image of Nepal. He said the King’s meeting with the Head of State of Qatar and the UAE have opened a new phase of economic relations with the Gulf countries.
