CHARIKOT: A woman has been reportedly arrested for killing her husband in Bhedpu area of Melung Rural Municipality-4 in Charikot of Dolakha district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified Karna Bahadur Tamang (83) of Melung-7 and the arrested as his wife Sanji.

The woman had struck her husband with a stick from behind, fatally injuring him yesterday evening, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rameshwar Karki at the District Police Office, Dolakha.

Tamang who had reached home on Friday evening in an excessively drunken state had asked his daughter-in-law for more liquor. When she refused his request, he started beating her. His wife intervened and struck her husband with the stick from behind to stop him from beating their daughter-in-law.

Meanwhile, the woman has been taken into police custody for further investigation.
