Dolpa, Tanahun villages at high risk of flood, landslide

DUNAI/ DAMAULI: The risk of flooding has been a constantĀ  problem for Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpa, as water level in the Bheri River has been increasing gradually.

The settlementsĀ  on the river bank are at high risk of being swept away, keeping locals awake all night.

The clatter of water and the bubbling sound has added to the villagers' fear, according to local Om Magar.

Although the District Development Committee among other organisations have been allocating budget worth millionsĀ  annually for strengthening the embankment, it has not been used effectively, locals complained.

Over 60 houses at Bhimad Bazaar in Tanaun district are at high risk of landslide and inundation as the Seti River has been eroding the area in every monsoon.

The Seti River Control and Bazaar Management Committee Secretary Raju Pariyar said that they have complained about the problem to the concerned authorities, but to no avail.
