Don’t appoint election officers under pressure, says CEC Yadav

Janakpurdham, August 20

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav today warned against appointing election officers and assistant election officers for the upcoming civic polls in Province 2 under political pressure and for financial gains.

Addressing a programme in Janakpur, Yadav said action would be taken against the chief district officer, district election officer and chief election officer of the concerned district if appointments were made in such a way.

He also said only the teachers and civil servants who had received poll training would be appointed as election officers and assistant election officers for the third phase of civic elections.

Yadav said a lack of effective monitoring of polls by staffers of district election offices might prompt the Election Commission to assign the monitoring task to other government agencies to ensure that the election code of conduct was maintained.

Yadav urged political parties to stop using minors in their publicity campaigns. He informed that the EC was working hard to hold the civic polls in Province 2 effectively and peacefully.
