Doti school kids learn practical skills beyond course books
DIPAYAL: School children have been agents to fulfill various needs of the community people in Rana Gaun of Doti district, of late.
It is because local Sarasawoti Higher Secondary School is operating an extra class for its students to teach them personality development and professional business skills.
Students from the class eight to 12 are attending the trainings.
The business training sessions include skills like hair cutting, tailoring and making tapari and duna (traditional plates made up of sal leaves and used in religious rituals) and personality development sessions include dancing and hosting a programme among others.
The materials produced by the students are good so the productions get market in their own community, informed Min Rana, principal of the school.
The extra classes do not affect the study of students, instead it has been a great example to those who pay high amount to learn the technical education, Rana further said.
The proverb "Where there is a will, there is a way" has been proved by the school as the students are being self-independent at a low cost, informed Pinki Sarki, a local.
This is the first school of the district to provide technical skills to the students.
