Dozens of settlements at risk of landslip

Landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has kept dozens of human settlements at high risk in Bajura.

The mudslide has especially put human settlements on the slope in danger. Locals feel terrorised due to landslides at many places.

DSP Sagar Bohora at District Police Office said that landslide had put many settlements in danger. According to DSP Bohora, the landslide has damaged two houses in Martadi of Badimalika Municipality-.

The families of Prem Chadara, Man Bahadur Chadara, Karna Chadara, Rage Chadara, Dabale Chadara and Bir Bahadur Rokaya of Shanti tole at Gaumul Rural Municipality were displaced after landslide put their houses at high risk.

Similarly, mudslide has destroyed one house at Malakot of Triveni Municipality while seven houses are at high risk of landslide. Families of all seven houses have left their shelters.

Landslip has threatened more than 20 houses in Ukhadi of Badimalika Municipality. As many as 42 families have left their homes after landslide occurred from all sides at Gumlagaun of Chhededaha Rural Municiplaity.

Dipak Nath, a local,  said that 22 families from Naina of the same rural municipality had stopped sleeping at home at night.

Police say landslide has damaged the road, houses, and irrigation facility though human casualties have not been reported. Police have urged families that are vulnerable to landslide to take precaution and stay on a high alert.

Acting CDO Khagendra Bahadur Malla said all should be on standby for safety and security in view of possible natural calamity.
