Dozens take ill with epidemic of diarrhoea in Sakarpura

RAJBIRAJ: An epidemic of diarrhoea and vomiting has spread in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality of Saptari district that was recently affected by floods.

A large number of people have been taken ill with around six people in critical condition, according to the District Public Health Office.

Manoj Mandal and his wife Geeta Devi of Koiladi-3 are in a serious condition after suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting. They are presently undergoing treatment in Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar.

Meanwhile, the District Public Health Office has set up a camp in the village and providing treatment to a dozen sick people, said the office Chief Gyan Bahadur Basnet. The critical patients have been referred to the Rajbiraj based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital.

Thousands of people in the area including in Sakarapura were hit hard from the catastrophic floods two months ago.
