KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 23

The University of Fairfax has appointed Dr Rajan Thapaliya as Assistant Dean of Computer Science, Cybersecurity and Information Technology, effective February 15, 2026.

Dr Thapaliya, a New York–based academic leader and researcher, will provide leadership across the university's computer science, cybersecurity and IT programmes, focusing on faculty engagement, curriculum innovation, academic assessment and student success strategies.

Prior to joining the University of Fairfax, he served as Programme Chair for the doctoral-level Digital and Computer Science programme at Golden Gate University (GGU Worldwide), where he oversaw academic quality assurance, accreditation-aligned programme management and doctoral supervision.

An award-winning professor and researcher, Dr Thapaliya specialises in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning and emerging technologies. He has been recognised among the Top 20 Machine Learning Influencers in the United States by Influencer Hero. He teaches MS- and PhD-level courses across US universities and serves as a PhD dissertation chair and subject matter expert, in addition to contributing as an editor and peer reviewer for scholarly journals.
