Driver, assistant go missing as truck plunges into Trishuli River

DHADING: Two persons have gone missing while another has sustained injuries after the truck they were travelling on plunged into Trishuli River in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10 along the Prithvi Highway in Dhading district on Friday night.

According to Dhading District Police Office, driver of the truck, Rajan Shrestha (27) and his assistant Shyam, both residents of Sindhupalchok district, have gone missing while one Tulasi Dulal has sustained injuries.

According to Jogimara-based Police Post, the truck (Na 5 Kha 3415) transporting cement to Kathmandu from Bhairahawa skidded off the road and fell 15 metres below into the river at Tikrangkhani, Jogimara, at around 1:00 am today.

A joint team of security personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been mobilised in the rescue and search operation.

The team rescued Dulal who has been receiving treatment at local Highway Community Hospital, Malekhu.

Only the wheels of the vehicle above the surface of the murky water are visible as the river is in flood, informed police.

Meanwhile, police are carrying on with the search in cooperation with local residents.
