Driver, assistant hurt as diesel tanker plunges 50m in Bhojpur
BHOJPUR: A fuel tanker driver and his assistant sustained injuries after the vehicle veered off the road in Pauwadungma Rural Municipality-1, on Wednesday night.
The injured have been identified as Manoj Dhakal (27) and his assistant Sanam Magar (19), both the residents of sonapur in Sunsari district.
According to Inspector Pandav Kumar Rajbanshi at Bhojpur District Police Office (DPO), the tanker vehicle (Na 7 Kha 5217) carrying diesel ran out of control a turn and fell 50 metres below the road injuring both the driver and his assistant, at Hilebhanjyang, at around 12:30 am today.
The ill-fated vehicle's wheel axle broke after it plunged 30 metres and further landed 20 metres below. The fuel tanker was heading towards Bajrayogini Petrol Pump at Panityanki in Bhojpur when the incident occurred, said police.
The injured were rushed to local medical facility in Tiwaribhanjyang for the treatment, said police and added that they have sustained injuries in their oral parts.
A team of security personnel deployed from Area Police Office for onsite inspection found that diesel from the had spillled.
