PHIDIM: A man died on the spot and another sustained injuries after the truck they were travelling on met with an accident in Hilihang Rural Municipality-7 of Panchthar district on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as  driver Umesh Singh (40) of Bardibas Municipality-4 and injured as assistant driver Shiv Mahara (24) of Bardibas-4 in the district.

According to police, the truck (Ba 2 Ka 6683) ferrying electricity wire from Phidim to Hewakhola Hydroelectric Project, Bharpat lost its control and plunged around 800 metres below the road at 10:45 am today.

The was injured have been rushed to the Panchthar Hospital for treatment, said Prem Shah Chief at District Police Office, Panchthar.

Police after the preliminary investigation blamed the overloaded truck as the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
