KATHMANDU: A person died and another sustained injuries after the tractor they were travelling on met with an accident in Surunga Municipality-6 of Saptari district on Sunday night.

Driver's assistant Kiran Kumar Ram (16) of Khadka Municipality-6 in the district breathed his last during the course of treatment at Lahan-based Saptarishi Hospital while injured passenger Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary (35) of Khadka Municipality-3 has been undergoing there, informed police.

According to police, the incident occurred when the sand-laden tractor (Sa 1 Ta 5456) lost control and crashed into the railing of a bridge at 8:30 pm yesterday, injuring the two.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the incident, informed police.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway and search is on for the absconding driver, said police.
