Drying water sources in Palpa village triggers drinking water crisis

PALPA: Around 60 households have been affected by the drinking water crisis in Palpa villages as many water sources in Rainadevi Chhahara Rural Municipality-3 in the district have dried up.

"Water sources in the village are fast drying up. We are sustaining on limited amount of water - two full pots of water every day - that we walk hours to get," said a local resident Gopal Pariyar.

Lack of rainfall this winter is to blame for the water scarcity, a perennial problem that started earlier this year.

Cement tanks have been put up for harvesting rainwater, but presently they too are empty, forcing the villagers to walk hours to fetch drinking water.
