Dutch kids help supply water
Fifty students of a school in Netherlands managed to save $750 over a period of six months from their snacks expenses and handed over the amount to Awareness for Development Nepal for installation of five hand pumps in Tilaurakot VDC of Kapilvastu. Esther de Jong, irrigation engineer working at Kapilvastu, collected the amount that she received through her parents. The de Jong couple recently visited Kapilvastu and observed the water supply scheme in Balaspur and Laxminagar settlements of the VDC. Forty households and students of a Muslim primary school have been direct beneficiaries of the project. They now have easy access to safe drinking water.
