Dysentery grips Sankhuwasabha

Sankhuwasabha, October 13:

The number of dysentery patients visiting the district hospital has gone drastically up for the past three days.

“The number of dysentery patients is increasing because of the consumption of stale meat during Dashain. The unhygienic food habit of people during the festival is the reason for the outbreak of dysentery in the district,” Dr Ajit Thapa told. He added that as much as 70 dysentery patients came to the hospital for treatment in the last three days.

The hospital has 15 beds and they were not sufficient to cope with the increasing number of patients, a staffer of the hospital said.
