E-rickshaw entrepreneurs picket transport office in Dhangadi

Life was adversely affected in city areas after e-rickshaw entrepreneurs started protest in Dhangadi Sub-metropolis, Kailali, from today.
The entrepreneurs picketed the Sub-metropolis Office today affecting daily activities. E-rickshaw entrepreneur Mani Ram Bhatta said they have demanded that they be allowed to operate after registering their business with the metropolis. It is said the entrepreneurs have been picketing Seti Zonal Transport Management Office, Dhangadi, from yesterday.
Meanwhile, e-rickshaw drivers said that the rickshaws were registered with the transport management office on the recommendation of the sub-metropolis. “But problems arose after the transport management office rejected the sub-metropolis’ recommendation for the same,” they added.
Transport Management Office, Dhangadi Acting Chief Keshab Datta Joshi said that the problems hit the locals hard after some e-rickshaw entrepreneurs demanded that they be allowed to register in the metropolis office while others demanded an end to the process of registration.
It is reported that more than 1,300 e-rickshaws operate in Dhangadi area.
The challenge of managing traffic has increased after the number of e-rickshaws increased in the area. This increase that far exceeds the capacity of the road has created problems for other vehicles and pedestrians.
