Earthquake-resistant school building constructed
Hetauda, June 6
A newly constructed school building of Praja Kalyan Basic Level School was handed over to the school administration at Raksirang Rural Municipality, Makawanpur, yesterday.
The 2015 earthquakes had destroyed the school buildings and other infrastructure.
Minister for Social Development Yubraj Dulal of Province 3 handed over the five-room building to the Chairman of the School Management Committee Padam Bahadur Syantan at a function in the school yesterday.
Unity for Sustainable Development, Nepal constructed the earthquake-resistant building with the aid of Lisa Himalaya EV, Germany.
The school has not been linked to the road network till date. The school is a two-hour walk from motorable road.
Programme Director Anjan Poudel of Lisa Himalaya said labourers were engaged in construction of the school building as wage earners for carrying the raw materials.
Over Rs 10 million was allocated for construction of the school infrastructure.
Poudel said over Rs nine million was spent on building construction, including management of desks, benches and book corners, among other infrastructure.
