KATHMANDU, JANUARY 3
The Election Commission (EC) has said that candidates listed under the proportional representation (PR) system for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election may withdraw their names within a stipulated timeframe, with political parties allowed to submit replacements.
According to EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, nominations submitted by 64 political parties are currently under verification. Parties will be notified to correct any errors by January 11.
Candidates seeking to withdraw their names from the revised PR list will be allowed to do so until January 12. The EC will formally notify the concerned party of the withdrawal, after which the party may propose an alternative candidate.
The provisional closed list will be published on January 18 to invite claims and objections. After reviewing any complaints, the EC will release the final PR list on February 3.
