Economic future rests on CA polls: Prachanda
Kathmandu, February 17:
Maoist chairman Prachanda said today that the country’s economic prosperity depended entirely on the successful holding of April 10 Constituent Assembly election.
“The republican forces have taken the CA election as a starting point of the country’s economic prosperity while the feudal elements have seen it as an end to their future. Therefore, the royalists and reactionary forces are conspiring against the polls,” said at a function organised by Nepal Engineering Infrastructure Development Society (NEIDS).
Commenting on the paper presented by engineer Bhim Upadhyaya on Nepal’s prosperity from development angle, Prachanda said that economic revolution of a country would not start without completing the political revolution.
Commenting on Upadhyaya’s paper, Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that economic base backed by democratic political system was a prerequisite to implement the development vision set by the planners and thinkers.
Managing Director of the state-owned Nepal Electricity Authority Arjun Bahadur Karki said that a new Nepal could not be built without harnessing the country’s abundant water resources, which is also the continued source of energy.
