Economic Zone work picking pace

Bara, March 1

Construction of the proposed special economic zone in Auraha of Jitpur-Simara Sub-metropolis, Bara, has gained momentum.

According to SEZ Construction Development Committee engineer Dinesh Neupane, the proposed facility will appropriate 833 bigaha land. “Work is under way in around 160 of the 342 bigaha land in Block A to set up a special garment processing zone,” he said, adding the economic zone will have a total of five blocks.

Hetauda-based Amar Kanchha Ramdev Construction JV, contractor for Block A, started work about four months ago. “As per our estimates, Block A will be ready in two years,” said Neupane. The cost of building block A is estimated at Rs 18.3 million. Work on the administrative and service building has also started. “Services such as insurance, banking and customs will operate from the service building,” said the engineer. Earlier, in the wake of steel and cement price hike, work had halted for about a month.
