EC's unilateral decision on election code of conduct: Minister Balayar

DIPAYAL: The Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management Bir Bahadur Balayar said the Election Commission has implemented election code of conduct unilaterally.

Balayar was addressing a press meet in his home district of Doti after being appointed as a Minister said, EC had implemented the election code of conduct without their consultations.

Leader Balayar expressed dissatisfaction on why the Election Commission implemented election code of conduct for the upcoming provincial and parliamentary elections as the third phase of local level is slated for September 18.

"The Election Commission decision on implementing code of conduct should not halt development projects and issues related to people," Minister Balayar added.

However, the government is committed to abide by the Election Commission decision on election code of conduct.

Speaking on a different note, Minister Balayar said, the recent PM's visit to India has paved the way for the development of the Nation. A 4-lane bridge over Mahakali River, dry port in Chandani Dodhara, up gradation of the Gauriphanta border point, establishment of biggest technical school in the region and among others.

He further said the work has been initiated for making Dhangadi Airport as second biggest in the country.

Rs 200 million has been allotted for the project. "PM Deuba is serious about this project and has given positive response on the same," Minister Balayar added.

He also said that the 350 kilometer long road stretch tender has been announced for connecting Bajhang with Tibet border point in the region.

Nepali Congress leader Balayar also informed that 29 bridge would be built in the region.

Meanwhile, speaking on a different note, he said Dipayal would be the capital of Province number 7.
