BIRGUNJ: Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) officials on Thursday detained Lal Babu Shah, Chief of Education Development and Coordination Unit, Birgunj with bribe money.

A team of CIAA officials deployed by CIAA office in Makwanpur nabbed Shah red-handed with Rs40,000 of bribe amount in his possession.

Shah had taken the amount from a service seeker who requested release of budget for construction of Nerani Secondary School in Jagarnathpur rural municipality in Parsa district, informed CIAA Section Officer Tirtha Raj Upadhyay.

Although the EDCU deposited the allocated amount for building construction in school’s account, Shah froze the budget and sought bribe to release payment.

According to CIAA officials, Shah will be taken to Makwanpur for further investigation.
