Efforts on to find facts about 10 detained in Afghanistan
Kathmandu, November 30:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) today said Nepali Embassy in Islamabad is making efforts to ascertain whether the 10 Nepalis as reported by media are detained by the government or the Afghani brokers.
A statement issued by the ministry said that Charge d’affairs Khagh Nath Adhikari in Islamabad had visited Kabul in July and found that Nepalis were being lured to Afghanistan by India-based brokers, and Nepali and Afghani manpower agents.
“Any Nepali with a 15-day visa could enter into Afghanistan and visa issuance used to be arranged through Afghani agents,” the statement said adding that extension of such visa used to be a problem for some who could not find any job there. Saying that the problem faced by Nepali workers who entered into Afghanistan for jobs through illegal channels can be solved through a successful information campaign launched by the government not to seek jobs in Afghanistan.
