Egypt to back Nepal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Ramesh Nath Pandey met Deputy Foreign Minister of Egypt, Ezzat Saad El Sayed, on Friday. The two ministers exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international co-operation. “We discussed enhancing bilateral relations on agriculture, tourism and education,” said El Sayed, who sought Nepal’s support for Egypt in getting permanent UN membership for 2007-2008. Pandey said Egypt had given assurance it would back Nepal for non-permanent United Nations membership. Pandey said, “El Sayed has said Egypt would help us in our effort to fight terrorism.” — HNS
