Pokhara, October 26

A team deployed from Narcotics Control Bureau, Pokhara, arrested eight persons for their alleged involvement in smuggling illegal drugs, from Prithivi Chowk of Pokhara in Kaski, today.

The arrested have been identified as Shiva Kumar Nishad of Santa Kabirnagar, India; Ajaya Shahi of Syangja; Indra Prasad Gurung, Dipen Chhetri, Samrat Rana of Pokhara-Lekhnath Metropolitan City; Aliya Tamag and Kalyan Tamang of Dhading; and Mekh Bahadur Gurung of Suklagandaki Municipality, Tanahun.

Inspector Rabindra Gurung of the Bureau said police had acted on a tip-off and arrested them and seized 500 pieces of Norphin, Phernagon and Diazepam each from their possession while they were smuggling the contraband by bus.
