POKHARA: An unidentified gang has brutally murdered an elderly couple at Bowang in Dhorpatan Municipality-8 of Baglung district, in Province 4, on Sunday, police said.

According to the Spokesperson of District Police Office, Baglung, Superintendent of Police (SP) Jhabindra Bhattarai, an elderly couple — Bhum Bahadur BK, 61, and his wife Bima BK, 60 — were murdered when they were sleeping in a shed near a farm yesterday night.

Locals had informed police about the incident after spotting Bhim Bahadur’s motionless body in the field nearby and Bima’s body lying in a pool of blood inside the shed this morning, SP Bhattarai shared.

Looking into the nature of the incident, a sharp weapon such as axe might have been used in the crime as there are multiple deep cuts in their heads, SP Bhattarai shared.

The incident site is located at a six-hour walking distance from Burtibang in the district. Police are preparing to send the bodies to Burtibang for autopsy.

Meanwhile, further investigation is underway, police said.
