DAMAULI, JUNE 27

Nepali Congress and CPN-MC candidates have all been elected unopposed in the District Coordination Committee of Tanahun.

While NC's Shanti Raman Wagle secured the post of DCC chief after no other party fielded candidate for the post, CPN-MC's Basudev Thapa was elected unopposed for the post of deputy.

According to Chief Election Officer Harishchandra Dhungana, five candidates of NC and two of CPN-MC were also elected unopposed as DCC members. "The election was slated for Monday, but as there were no challengers for any of the posts, whoever had filed their nomination were declared elected unopposed," Dhungana said. It is important to note that it is the second time that Wagle has been nominated as DCC chief. - HNS
