Election activities intensify in Dang
Dang, May 25
Election activities for the second phase of the local level polls have intensified in Dang of late.
Political leaders have started door-to-door campaigning. They have started holding meetings, gatherings and discussions to influence voters.
Nepali Congress Dang informed that the party was preparing to pick candidates for the polls.
CPN-Maoist Centre has already picked its candidates for two sub-metropolitan cities, one municipality and seven rural municipalities and all the 100 wards of the district.
Election Mobilisation Committee Coordinator for Dang Nirmal Acharya said party leaders and activists had launched their election campaign after the nomination of candidates.
Hem Raj Sharma, CPN-MC politburo member said that though his party had finalised candidates, the possibility of forming alliance with other forces was still open.
CPN UML has also picked all its candidates in all the local bodies except at Ghorahi and Tulsipur sub-metropolitan cities. “The candidates at the sub-metropolitan cities will be finalised by tomorrow,” said UML leader Sura Mani Belbase.
He, however, claimed that his party cadres and activists had already reached rural areas with election activities.
Rastriya Janamorcha Dang Secretary Ganesh Acharya said that his party leaders and activists had reached villages for publicity of the party as part of election preparations.
The party has also nominated poll candidates.
Nepal Communist Party Revolutionary led by Mohan Baidhya has also taken part in the election in the name of Deshbhakta Janagana Tantrik Morcha.
The Morcha’s Dang Coordinator Yam Bahadur Shah said that they had fielded candidates in some places where they have strength.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Naya Shakti Party are yet to pick their poll candidates and they are supposed to finalise the contestants by Saturday.
