Election campaign intensifies in Dhading

Dhading, November 7

As the date for the upcoming elections draws close, political parties have intensified their poll campaigns in Dhading.

While parties are carrying out conventional methods of campaigning such as holding mass meetings and visiting voters at their homes, they have also taken to social networking sites to solicit voters.

According to CPN-UML Constituency No 2 provincial election candidate Ram Kumar Adhikari, different teams are assigned to meet locals to canvass for votes. “While one team is operating in Chhatredeurali of Dhunibesi municipality, the other team is campaigning in the district headquarters and its vicinity,” he said, adding they are using social networking sites to take their campaign to a wider audience and teenagers in particular.

According to Nepali Congress parliamentary candidate from Constituency No 2 Dilman Pakhrin, candidates and cadres of the democratic alliance are campaigning in Lapa, Tipling and Sertung.

The district now has two parliamentary constituencies, down from three in the past, and four provincial constituencies, where a tough competition is expected between candidates of the left and democratic alliance. Candidates of both alliances have adopted early completion of Budhigandaki hydropower project, agriculture and tourism development, among others, as major election agenda.
