Election code of conduct violation complaints filed

Four complaints were filed with the Chief Election Officer’s Office regarding violation of election code of conduct in Kaski till today.

Assistant Election Officer Ram Chandra Upadhaya said that one complaint each was filed against Pokhara metropolis, ward chairman of Pokhara metropolis-15, Federal Socialist Party-Nepal and Nepali Congress.

The complaint was filed against Pokhara metropolis at the Chief Election Officer’s Office after the metropolis transferred two teachers during the by-election in Kaski Constituency 2.

Metropolis Education Department had transferred one teacher in Ward no 17 of the metropolis while another one was transferred in ward no 11. Upadhaya said the teachers’ transfers were withdrawn after the complaint was filed at the office.

Similarly, a complaint was filed against Ward No 15 Chairman Prakash Poudel after he distributed blankets to voters against the election code of conduct. “The complaint was filed against Poudel after he distributed blankets to attract villagers after the code came into effect,” said Upadhaya. He said further investigation was under way. Poudel is the people’s representative elected from then CPN-UML.

Meanwhile, Poudel claimed that he did not distribute blankets to locals, but had attended a programme organised by a non-government organization.

Likewise, locals filed a complaint against the Federal Socialist Party after the party distributed water pipes in Armala of Pokhara metropolis-16.

Another complaint was filed against Nepali Congress after the party pasted posters in Birauta-based Swaminarayan Temple of Pokhara-17. Upadhaya said that investigation into the complaints was under way.
