The EC, which today published the voter list for NA election, said it listed the names of Manange because it did not get any notice from the court about Manange’s conviction in an attempt to murder case. The EC also said that it listed Katuwal’s name because it did not get a notice of Katuwal’s death. Katuwal, who was chairman of Makalu Rural Municipality of Sankhuwasabha district died in a jeep accident last Sunday.

Manange, who has been elected to the provincial assembly of Province4 remained absent from the swearing in ceremony today in Pokhara, the provisional headquarters of Province 4.

EC Spokesperson Navaraj Dhakal said that the EC did not get a copy of the court verdict issued against Manange and no one officially informed about Katuwal’s death.

“If a complaint is lodged against Manange and someone applies to remove Katuwal’s name, we will remove their names from the voters list,” said Dhakal. He said that the poll panel published the voters list today as per its previous schedule.

According to Dhakal, people could lodge complaint against voters today. The polls panel will investigate the complaints on January 22 and publish a final voter list from 10:00am to 5:00pm on January 23.
