Election dates within few days, assures PM Dahal
LAHAN: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday claimed that the government would soon announce dates for the local elections.
Speaking with journalists in Lahan of Siraha today, Dahal said, "The three major parties are holding serious discussions over it and the dates would be announced in consensus very soon."
Meanwhile, Dahal said the government was working hard to implement the Constitution and strengthen the national unity.
"The government's focus is on implementing the Constitution and creating an election-conducive environment by increasing acceptance of the Constitution in plains, hills and mountains and taking the Madhesi parties into confidence."
Meanwhile, speaking in another context, Dahal said the government would withdraw the Constitution amendment bill it registered at the Parliament.
Dahal was hopeful that opposition parties including the CPN-UML, who had been obstructing the Parliament meetings protesting the amendment bill, would ultimately support the proposal as it was the only way out for the nation.
