Election fever grips Province 7

Dhangadi, October 23

After candidates filed their nominations for the first phase of provincial and parliamentary polls slated for November 26 yesterday, election fever has gripped Darchula, Bajhang, Baitadi and Bajura districts of Province No 7.

Candidates of different parties are busy with door-to-door election campaigning and other programmes. Parties have started organising mass meetings and corner meetings to lure voters.

Ram Bahadur Dani from Bajura headquarters Martadi said election fever had gripped people and parties as the polls approached.

Offices of the chief returning officers in different districts said left alliance, democratic alliance and independent candidates had filed their nominations for the House of Representatives and parliamentary polls. AIGP Bijayraj Bhatta, the police chief of Province No 7 said the nominations were filed in a peaceful manner.

Party leaders claimed their respective parties would emerge victorious in the four districts of the province in the first phase of the polls.

NC leader NP Saud claimed that his party would secure victory in all four districts.

CPN-UML Province No 7 Joint Coordinator Karna Thapa claimed that the left alliance would win majority in the province.
