District Administration Office, Tehrathum has become the first office in the eastern hilly districts to use electronic attendance machine.

DAO has started to use the machine to monitor attendance of staffers as well as their timing. Assistant Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Gyawali said the machine had encouraged staffers to come to the office on time and made them more responsible. Sources at DAO said the late coming staffers were asked to explain themselves for being late. Meanwhile, the DAOs in Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung have been taking the staffs’ attendance in registers. The sources added that the trend of coming to office late and leaving early had been reduced after the installation of the machine.
