Engineer killed in road mishap
Pokhara, March 6:
Pokhara remained tense today following the death of an engineer-cum-lecturer in a road mishap yesterday.
Bhriguraj Adhikary, engineer of Western Regional Division Road No 2 and lecturer at Western Regional Campus of Institute of Engineering, TU, was killed when a microbus ran over him.
Adhikary, a resident of Mijuredanda VDC-5 in Kaski, was crushed to death at 6:30 am while he was walking along the road near the main gate of the campus. Students of the campus staged demonstrations, demanding martyr’s status for Adhikary, reasonable compensation for the bereaved family and action against the guilty. Police opened tear gas shells and used force against the agitating students at Bhimsen Chowk. Six students and commoners were injured in the baton charge.
The enraged students vandalised the office of the microbus at Bagar. The relatives of the deceased gheraoed the District Police Office throughout the day today.
