Engineers on warpath

Kathmandu, July 2 :

Nepal Terai Engineers’ Society today submitted a memorandum to Minister for Physical Planning and Works, Gopal Man Shrestha, demanding immediate review of nominees of the members of the Nepal Engineers Council.

The society sought proportionate representation of engineers from the Terai region in the council. The society also sought reservation of high-ranking government positions for deserving Madhesi engineers. Member of the society, Ranjit Karna, also general secretary of Nepal Student Union, said the society would come up with protest programmes if their demands were not addressed. “We launched our struggle to ensure inclusion of Terai engineers in the government authorities,” Karna said.
