Ensure peaceful polls: Home secy

Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Mohan Krishna Sapkota today inspected Nepal Police headquarters and instructed the police force to ensure that elections scheduled for November 26 and December 7 are conducted peacefully.

He admired the courageous works undertaken by the police in the mountainous, hilly and Tarai regions and added that the police force had to work more effectively in the changed context of the federal system. Secretary Sapkota emphasized the need of advanced technology to fulfil tasks effectively.

Inspector General of Nepal Police Prakash Aryal explained the current status, challenges, needs and other aspects of Nepal police. He also gave a presentation regarding police structure, human resource management, networking of police units, working groups, police training and action plan to the home secretary.

Important facts related to crime investigation, and scientific research practices were presented during the inspection.
