Resettled villagers yet to receive land ownership certificate in Kapilvastu

KRISHNANAGAR: As many as 119 households residing in Devipur village of Shivaraj Municipality-8 in Kapilvastu district, have yet to receive the land ownership certificates.

The village was established in 2059 BS after CARITAS Nepal and Sahaj Nepal Kapilvastu had constructed 123 houses at the investment of Rs 5.5 million for resettlement.

According to Sahaj Nepal Chair Sharad Adhikari, the resettlement was arranged for helpless people when their entire settlement was displaced.

A decade has already elapsed but they are yet to obtain ownership certificates of the land where they have been residing, complained local Khetu Lal Ranamagar adding that they still have the status of squatters even after a decade following the resettlement.

However, according to Mayor of Shivaraj Municipality, Netraraj Adhikari, it was not possible for the local level to resolve the issue of land ownership certificate.
