Envoy points out pros of open border

Birgunj, May 27 :

Indian ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee today said people of Nepal and India should take advantage of the open border between the two countries responsibly.

Speaking at an inauguration session of the two-day seminar titled ‘Bonds beyond Borders’ organised by BP Koirala Foundation here, envoy Mukherjee said people from both the countries should utilise the open border for mutual benefit by removing its disadvantages.

“In this age of globalisation, border ties between two countries must be associated with every aspect of life and not only economic sector,” he said.

Indian Consulate General at Birgunj, C Guru Raj Rao, said India is increasing assistance in educational sector for the production of skilled manpower in Nepal.

Envoy Mukherjee also handed over an educational aid worth Rs 1 million to the Harikhetan Multiple Campus and Narayani Sub-regional Hospital at the programme.
