Legendary climber Kami Rita Sherpa has set another record in mountain climbing as he scaled the world's eighth highest peak this morning.

According to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Director at Seven Summit Treks, Kami Rita, popularly known as the Everest Man, climbed Mt Manaslu being part of the SST/14 Peaks expedition. "Kami Rita along with other climbers reached the real summit of Mt Manaslu at 8:10 am," he said.

Kami Rita now holds the record for 'most climbs of 8,000m,' he said, adding that Kami Rita made altogether 42 summits of 8000ers till date. "Manaslu ascent earns Kami Rita the title of 'most successful ascent of 8000ers by any individual," he added.

In the last spring season, Kami Rita scaled Mt Everest for 28th time, leading the world record of most ascents on the world's highest peak.

Kami Rita, who is working as a Senior Climbing Guide at Seven Summit Treks Pvt Ltd, had scaled Mt Everest for the first time in 1994 May 13. According to Tashi Lakpa, between 1994 and 2023, Kami Rita has climbed Mt Everest 27 times, K2 and Mt Lhotse one time each, Mt Manaslu four times and Cho Oyu eight times.

"Born on January 2, 1970, he developed a deep passion for climbing from a young age and has been scaling mountains for over two decades. His mountaineering journey began in 1992 when he joined an expedition to Everest as a support staff member. Since then, Kami Rita has fearlessly embarked on numerous expeditions, summiting Everest multiple times. Kami Rita's achievements extend beyond Everest, as he has also conquered other formidable peaks, including K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu," SST shared.
