DHANGADHI: Police have arrested five persons including a former lawmaker for trying to burn the effigy of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Dhangadhi on Tuesday.

According to DSP Bishwo Raj Khadka of the District Police Office (DPO), Kailali, the detainees have been identified as former lawmaker and UCPN-Maoist Kailali In-Charge Krishna Kumar Chaudhary "Kundan", Tharuhat/Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee, Kailali, spokesperson Madhav Chaudhary, Tharuhat Tarai Party Nepal central members Sumati Rana, Nayan Chaudhary and Bal Krishna Chaudhary.

They were arrested from the Campus Chowk of Dhangadhi.

Police informed that they have been kept at the DPO.
