Excavator driver charged with attempt-to-murder

DADELDHURA: An attempt-to-murder case has been filed against the excavator driver who was taken into custody on Monday for attacking protestors with the excavator bucket in Dashrathchand Municipality-9 of Baitadi District.

According to District Police Office, Baitadi, the incident occurred when the digger driver, who has been identified as Kishore Joshi, amid an ongoing argument with locals regarding the digging of the road, tried to trash a local woman with the excavator bucket.

The argument took place while the local consumers' committee tried to forcefully dig the road between Ayarekhali and Chilaune villages, which locals claim to be a Guthi property.

The excavator operator injured the locals with the machine for which a murder charge has been registered against him, informed Dilli Narayan Pande, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office.

Chairperson of the Road Construction Committee Keshav Datta Joshi and three others arrested on Tuesday along with the driver have been released from police custody after general inquiry, added the police.
