Explosion kills NDA activist in Sunsari

Itahari, August 2:

An unidentified activist of the Nepal Defence Army died when a socket bomb in his possession went off in Balkot on the Duhabi-Inaruwa road in Sunsari district today, Sunsari District Police Office said.

According to the district police office, the NDA activist was in his mid-twenties and appeared to be of Madhesi origin.

The office said it could not immediately ascertain the identity of the deceased NDA cadre.

Five socket bombs, a Chinese pistol, five kilograms of explosives and pamphlets of the National Defence Army were recovered from the body, police said.

The district police office added that a bomb disposal squad of the Nepal Army inactivated the socket bombs.
