Explosive devices go off at two schools in Sunsari

DHARAN: Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) went off on the premises of two academic institutions in Sunsari district on Thursday midnight, resulting in the damage of properties.

The explosions took place in Delhi Public School, located inside the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan and in Sushma Godavari College of Itahari.

The police think that Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) could have their involvement in the incident.

It has been reported that a pressure-cooker bomb exploded at the entrance of Delhi Public School which has damaged an iron gate brought down a wall. The blast also broke the window panes of a residential building where doctors of BPKIHS live.

Similarly, the blast at Sushma Godavari College also resulted in the damage of its compound.

According to Binod Sharma, Spokesperson of District Police Office, Sunsari, the reason behind the blasts could be to scare the school authorities as they disagreed to give donation to the group.

Meanwhile, police are carrying out further investigation.
