Extortionists attack, injure on-duty cops at Indo-Nepal border in Sarlahi
KATHMANDU: Police said a group of extortionists attacked and injured on-duty cops at Indo-Nepal borderland in Arnaha of Sarlahi district on Tuesday.
ASI Gauri Shankar Sah and constable Sushil Kumar Sah were injured while some extortionists, who were threatening locals near the border for donations, attacked them with homemade weapons including sickles and lathis, police said.
The gang had suddenly resorted to the attack as the cops were trying to convince them against extortion, police claimed.
Security personnel had controlled the situation immediately by firing some bullets in the air.
Meanwhile, police arrested two persons – Sonaph Raya (73) and Naththu Raya (32) of Arnaha-3 – in connection to the case.
Further investigation is underway.
