Fallen soldiers feted

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army on Friday honoured the soldiers who lost lives or went missing in the devastating earthquakes last year.

Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri honoured the deceased personnel posthumously by extending letters of appreciation and financial assistance of Rs 100,000 each to their families.

Likewise, the families of those who went missing were provided Rs 50,000, according to a statement issued by the Directorate of the Public Relations of Nepali Army.

At least 21 Nepali Army personnel and a civil servant working with the Nepali Army were killed in the quakes.
