Family assaulted for attending rival’s rally

It is reported that Nepali Congress cadres assaulted members of a Dalit family for attending an election campaign of the left alliance at Karkigaun of Chhedagaad Municipality in Jajarkot a few days ago.
The incident surfaced today after the victim’s family lodged a complaint at District Police Office, Jajarkot. As per the complaint, Kale Damai’s family members, including
his wife Mandari and brother Prithi Damai, were beaten indiscriminately accusing them of playing musical instruments in the left-alliance’s election campaign.
Kale said the NC activists came to his home and beat his spouse Mandari and sibling Prithi for playing musical instruments at the left alliance’s election campaign at Manghat of Karkigaun. Kale added the activists also threatened his family not to attend such functions again.
Victim Mandari said the cadres had charged at them with bamboo sticks after entering their house. According to her, NC activists Kashi Ram Rokaya, Megh Badi, Kashi Ram Badi, Lal Bahadur Shahi and Deep Malla, among others, were involved in the assault.
Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhabesh Rimal, chief at District Police Office, Jajarkot, said a police squad was deployed to nab the alleged for investigation. “Investigation into the incident will begin after they report to the office,” said DSP Rimal.
